Laser Tattoo & PMU Removal

Safe, effective fading and removal using Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser.

Whether you’ve outgrown an old tattoo, want a fresh canvas for a cover-up, want to correct or remove permanent makeup, or simply want unwanted ink gone for good, our Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser offers one of the most effective and widely trusted methods of removal available today.

The laser works by delivering short, high-energy pulses of light that shatter ink particles beneath the skin. Over the following weeks, your body’s lymphatic system naturally clears these fragmented particles away, gradually fading the area with each session. The Nd:YAG laser’s dual wavelength allows us to effectively treat a broad range of ink colours including black and blue ink and is suitable for all skin tones.

Why choose Q-Switched Nd:YAG?

Effective on the most common tattoo and PMU pigment colours

Suitable for all skin tones

Minimal damage to surrounding skin compared to older removal methods

Can be used for full removal or pre-cover-up fading

Treats both professional and amateur tattoos, as well as PMU/cosmetic tattoo pigment

Tattoo Removal — What to expect

The number of sessions you’ll need depends on several factors: the size, colour, age and depth of the tattoo, as well as your skin tone. As a guide, full removal typically takes 6–10+ sessions, spaced 8-12 weeks apart to allow your skin to heal and your body to clear the ink between treatments. Older, amateur, and darker ink tattoos tend to respond faster than newer, professional, multi-coloured tattoos.

Every tattoo is different, so we price by size and complexity. At your free consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo and give you a clear, personalised quote for both single sessions and course pricing.

PMU Removal — What to expect

Permanent makeup (eyebrows, lip liner/blush) is treated in the same way, but requires extra care. PMU pigments often contain different metal compounds to body ink, and can sometimes turn a different colour (commonly grey or blue-black) when first treated — this is normal and improves with further sessions. PMU removal generally needs fewer sessions than larger tattoos, but the area must be treated more conservatively to protect delicate skin, particularly around the eyes and lips.

As a guide, PMU correction/fading typically takes 2–4 sessions, and full removal 4–8 sessions, spaced 8 weeks apart to allow proper healing in these sensitive areas. We always do a patch test and consultation to discuss your goals, whether you want to aim for full removal or fading for a fresh PMU appointment.

Aftercare

After treatment, the area may look red, swollen, or blistered for a few days, this is a normal part of the healing process. We’ll guide you through simple aftercare, including keeping the area clean and protected, avoiding sun exposure, and not picking at any scabbing, to support the best possible fading between sessions.

Does tattoo or PMU removal hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a hot rubber band snapping against the skin. It’s brief — each pulse lasts a fraction of a second — though some areas (like over bone, or delicate areas like lips and eyebrows) can feel more sensitive than others. We can discuss numbing options at your consultation if needed.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the size, colour, age, and depth of the ink, plus your skin tone. As a guide, tattoos typically need 6–10+ sessions and PMU 2–8 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Black and older ink generally fades faster than bright colours or fresh ink.

Why has my tattoo or PMU gone darker after treatment?
This is a normal reaction, especially with PMU pigments, which can temporarily darken or turn grey/blue-black before lightening over the following weeks. It doesn’t mean the treatment hasn’t worked — it’s part of the process as the ink breaks down.

Will it completely disappear?

Most tattoos and PMU fade significantly, and many clients achieve full removal. However, results depend on ink type, colour, depth, and your individual skin response — some residual shadowing or ghosting can remain, particularly with certain ink colours or very deep/professional work. We’ll be upfront about what’s realistic for your specific tattoo or PMU at your consultation.

Can all colours be removed?

The Nd:YAG laser is most effective on black, dark blue and dark ink. Lighter colours such as yellow, light green, and white can be more resistant and may need more sessions, or in some cases respond only partially.

Is it safe for PMU around my eyes and lips?

Yes — we take extra care with these delicate areas, using lower energy settings and a slower, more conservative approach than on body tattoos to protect the surrounding skin.

What should I do before my appointment?

Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan on the area for at least 2 weeks beforehand, as tanned skin increases the risk of complications. Let us know about any skincare products you’re using nearby, especially retinol or other photosensitising treatments.

Are there any reasons I shouldn’t have this treatment?

This treatment isn’t suitable during pregnancy, or if you have certain skin conditions, keloid scarring history, or are taking certain medications. We’ll go through your medical history fully at your free consultation to check you’re suitable.

How long does each session take?

Small tattoos or PMU areas can take just a few minutes; larger tattoos may take 30–60 minutes depending on size.

What aftercare is needed?

Keep the area clean and dry, avoid picking at any scabbing, and protect it from the sun with SPF once healed. Avoid swimming, saunas and hot showers directly on the area for the first 24–48 hours.
