Laser Hair Removal

Smooth, long-lasting results with our advanced Diode laser.

Say goodbye to the endless cycle of shaving, waxing and ingrown hairs. At Drop Dead Gorgeous, we use a medical-grade Diode laser to deliver safe, effective, long-term hair reduction for a wide range of skin tones and hair types.

Diode laser technology works by targeting the melanin in each hair follicle with concentrated light energy, disabling the follicle’s ability to regrow hair without damaging the surrounding skin. It’s one of the most advanced and comfortable methods of laser hair removal available, suitable for both small and large areas, including sensitive zones like the upper lip, underarms and bikini.

Why choose Diode laser hair removal?

Suitable for most skin types

Faster treatment times than IPL, with fewer sessions required for visible results

Gentle, controlled heat for a more comfortable treatment experience

Long-term hair reduction — most clients see a significant, lasting decrease in regrowth

Safe for use on face and body

What to expect

A full course of treatment is recommended for best results, as hair grows in cycles and not all follicles are active at the same time. Most clients need a course of 6–8 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by occasional top-up sessions to maintain results.

All new clients receive a free consultation and patch test before booking, to check suitability and discuss your hair and skin type.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients describe it as a warm snapping sensation, similar to a hot elastic band flick. Diode laser technology includes a cooling tip, which makes the treatment far more comfortable than older laser methods. Sensitivity varies by area — the bikini line and underarms tend to be more sensitive than arms or legs.

How many sessions will I need?

Hair grows in cycles, and laser only targets hair in its active growth phase, so a course of treatments is needed to catch all the follicles over time. Most clients need 6–8 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, for a noticeable long-term reduction. Some areas, like the face, can take a little longer due to hormonal influence on hair growth.

Is the result permanent?

Diode laser provides long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Most clients see a significant, lasting reduction in hair growth and thickness after a full course, with occasional top-up sessions (every 6–12 months) helping to maintain results.

Is it suitable for my skin tone?

Diode lasers work by targeting melanin in the hair, so they’re effective across a wide range of skin tones. During your free consultation and patch test, we’ll assess your hair and skin type to confirm suitability and set safe, effective laser settings for you.

Can I have it done if I’m tanned?

We recommend avoiding sunbathing, sunbeds and fake tan for at least 2 weeks before treatment, as this can affect both safety and results. Let your practitioner know if you’ve been sun exposed so we can adjust accordingly.

What should I do before my appointment?

Shave the area 24 hours before your session (don’t wax, pluck or use hair removal cream, as the hair root needs to be intact for the laser to target it). Avoid sun exposure, fake tan, and any photosensitising skincare products (like retinol) beforehand.

Are there any reasons I shouldn’t have this treatment?

Laser hair removal isn’t suitable during pregnancy, or if you have certain skin conditions, are taking certain medications (like Roaccutane), or have very recently tanned skin. We’ll talk through your medical history at your consultation to make sure it’s right for you.

How long does a session take?

This depends on the area being treated — small areas like the upper lip take just a few minutes, while a full leg or full body session can take 45–60 minutes.

What aftercare is needed?

Avoid hot showers, saunas, swimming, and direct sun exposure for 24–48 hours after treatment. We’ll recommend gentle, fragrance-free skincare and daily SPF to protect the treated skin.

Is Electrolysis or Laser better?

The difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal is that laser tends to treat large areas of skin which can substantially reduce a hair growth, but not always remove all of the hair permanently. It is termed hair REDUCTION rather than hair REMOVAL.

Permanent hair removal with electrolysis requires a longer sessions and a longer course of treatment but results in complete, permanent removal of all hair treated. Laser/IPL treatment requires further treatment when the hair grows back. However, you cannot treat large areas of the body with Electrolysis completely. So it's a great option for smaller areas, or to target stubborn hairs left over from a laser course.

So neither option outweighs the other, it just depends on area, hair type and goals. We can help you decide which is best for your specific concern during a consultation.
